spring mixtape

THE SPRING MIXTAPE IS HERE!

What says “Spring” more than free music and creepy/cute twins with cats? Download it here!

This mix comes just in time for you to roll your windows down, blast the stereo as you do “mainies” in your early 2000 imported automobile! Too specific? Anyway, I hope you enjoy the mix as much as I did making it, she’s a little psychedelic/rock and folky at points. At the very least I know you’ll love the illustration by Alex Davey – she’s my favourite illustrator in the whole world and you really should hire her, Tweet here and/or Tumbl her.

eOne

EONE IDENTITY

I keep seeing this identity on TV/traliers/movie posters, maybe I’m tuned into because I designed it? But its really growing on me, and its come a long way… Its been about a year (maybe 2?) since the launch of the new identity and my ego took a beating on the comment threads of various branding/design blogs, but the fact remains that the only people present throughout the process and interactions with the client were us. Design doesn’t happen in a bubble.

Just wanted to say that I’m proud of it, and I think it looks great… A lot better than what it used to look like, that’s for sure.

Baldwin Street Burger

BALDWIN STREET BURGER

Baldwin St. Burger is the brainchild of copywriter, chef and friend Shane Ogilvie. Baldwin St. Burger contacted me back in May to help them create an identity and atmosphere for the restaurant. The concept for the restaurant is farm fresh ingredients, handmade quality. Naturally, I created a rustic, old barn, turn-of-the-century butcher look capturing the owner’s sense of humour.

The result, a fun concept and some amazing burgers. Get out there and Get your burger on!

DESIGN THINKERS 2011

I just got back from DesignThinkers 2011 hosted by the RGD and… it left me speechless, inspired and proud. As you may or may not know the RGD selected my concept (via Parcel Design) for the event materials. The theme for this year was connectivity, I thought, what better way to connect designers than to collaborate? The foundation of the concept was an exquisite corpse in which 8 studios and one student participated in creating a large illustration/pattern that would be used throughout the event.

Seeing everything together at the conference was fantastic. It was also fulfilling to hear Leland Maschmeyer of Collins referencing that the future is going to be about collaboration and even debuting an exquisite corpse project he worked on, truly surreal.
